I get the same crap from these guys. Near as I can tell it is a scam too. I tried calling them back to tell them the same as you, they tell you to phone another number. NOT gonna happen. If nobody answers on the line, I do not talk. I am with you, I pay for my phone and they are using it to ask for money or donations or whatever. This is my phone, not theirs.
